Artist of the Week: Drake

Drake fans, more powerful lyrics and rhythmic beats are all part of “God’s Plan” for you. In case you haven’t heard, the Canadian rapper dropped his fifth studio album – 90 minutes worth of certified platinum magic – last week, and we can’t stop listening.

Drake started the year off strong, releasing his E.P. Scary Hours in January, which contained the hit single God’s Plan. God’s Plan debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 and would stay there for 11 weeks, only to be dethroned by another one of his singles “Nice for What.” Drake’s heartwarming music video for the song went viral too, centered around Miami residents and the enormous donations Drake made to change their lives.

Throughout this album Drake demonstrates his versatility as an artist, featuring both hip-hop and R&B tracks. He grapples with the struggles of fame in “Jaded”, his own lifestyle in “Is There More” and even confirms to fans that yes, he is a father in “Emotionless” – something that’s caused intense speculation over the past few months.

So whether you’re coming down from the fourth of July high or celebrating through the weekend, you’ve got to check out Drake’s new album here on iHeartRadio!
